I want to make a quilt for a friend who just found out that her mom is in the last stages of brain cancer . My friend is having such a hard time right now so I thought I would surprise her with a quilt. Her favorite colors are black and tans/ gold so I thought I would use several of these colors. Does anyone have or know of a commercial quilt pattern that goes together fairly quickly but still looks impressive? I would like to use mostly small-patterned solids so I do not want to use a "Just can't cut it".

My suggestion as always is WARM WISHES. Pick one large print for the framed square, pick a second matching but a bit smaller print for the un-framed square. The chose two of the darker colors for the sides of the rail fence block and a neutral for the center rail. I also prefer teeny tiny prints or tonals for the rail fence blocks.
