Default Intro from Minneapolis

Greetings, fellow quilters.
I joined awhile back but haven't become active yet.

Been sewing for decades, but was visiting this past summer a woman who had the most beautiful quilts on her walls, and the quilt bug bit me fiercely.

I am "retired" (that is, I don't work outside the home) and have been looking for something creative that allows me to use my love of color, design, composition and sewing, and quilting does it all!

I've sewn 5-6 full-size quilts since July, and am currently taking a class making a Judy Niemeyer pattern (my first). I took a longarm class to become "certified" so I can rent a longarm machine at a local quilt store near my home. I would really love to be able to have one of my own. Oh, to dream! I have free-motioned two quilts on my home machine, and tore hair out over that until I discovered the exact thread, needle, etc. combination that allows me to keep moving without thread or needle breaking. Hallelujiah! It's a lot of fun when it works!

I'm a batik junkie, but it appears I've never met a fabric style I didn't like. Long as the colors are appealing, I can dig it. lol I would have to say my own quilting style leans toward modern, but I appreciate the fine artisanship that goes into many more traditional quilts. I just don't make them for myself.

Looking forward to sharing this art form with others, listening to what others are doing, and learning some new stuff.

Until then,
Becky
