I have also thought about doing that --- BUT have not done it yet.
I did see someones once, she played with the stitches by adjusting the length and width. Also she used different threads on top and bobbin. She also played with variegated. All were denoted the 'changes' she tried.

A person could spend all day just 'playing'.

I will have to watch and see what suggestions everyone post.
