I often do that but always feel that I have the quilt police looking over my shouder and snearing. Often I will stitch in the ditch or echo the sashings and then hand quilt (mostly around the figures) the individual blocks. I find the hand quilting adds a certain life to the blocks that machine quilting would not do. I don't do FMQ so it would be just straight stitching. So what I'm saying is that you have set my heart and mind at ease. That is a lovely quilt!! Sooo -- what parts were hand quilted and what parts were machine quilted?

BTW. I love monochromatic so this one is absolutely appealing to me.
