Maybe the small scale prints/ solids, the balance of the color intensity...not sure. Do like the friendship stars in the sashing strips for sure!
I suspect you like it because the shapes are similar and they are not "busy". Some of us with limited brain capacity (referring to me, not you) can't handle a huge amount of designs in one quilt. Often the prize quilt at shows is one with a zillion small, absolutely beautiful design pictures... I can only look at it for a minute and I have to move on. Envy the skill, but have no wish to go there!
