Default Are you in a swap? Cut some extra strips!

I am in a 2.5" candy swap so while I was cutting 2.5" strips into 1500 little squares (ugh), I decided to cut an extra 2.5" strip of each color and do a 60 degree braid quilt. I got the pattern from Easy Quilts - Scrap Quilts Fall 2011 magazine from Fons and Porter (LOVE those two!!!)

I know someone else posted about this because it is a great technique, perfect for scraps and as I said when you are cutting for a swap. It also makes a great hand project - I am hand piecing mine to take with me to the upcoming cheerleading practices and competitions for my DD and when I visit my mom in the hospital. Honchy said that she had started an English Paper Piecing project about 10 years ago - she cut all the hexagonals and then put it away - she is going to try cutting them in half and see if she can do the braiding technique so thats another idea...

Here's a link to the directions

and my in progress project.
