I haven't cut myself that way - but I've forgotten to put the safety down on the blade and smacked my hand or finger into the cutter while it's laying on the table. OUCH. I'll probably drop it on my foot next.
There are Kevlar gloves. I have a mandoline for the kitchen and bought some. They work.
True cut has a ruler with a guide lip on it, and the cutter fits over the guide. Only problem is ruler size. I tried it to avoid the ruler/cutter slipping.
