I first pick all the fabrics that I like in the line. Then I decide what fabrics would work for each part of the quilt. If it is a large print that would work for a border then I buy according to the size of quilts I usually make and most of the time that's 2.5 yards. Then if one of these fabrics would be sashing again based on the size of quilt I usually make buy accordingly. The remaining fabrics I would probably get a yard each.
