If I have smaller appliqués I quilt around them not over them. If I have larger ones, I add a few lines of quilting to give details to the appliqués. I have never meandered over appliqués because the fusible can cause an occasional skipped stitch. You will have to see what your machine likes to do, beside appliqués or over appliqués.
