Have you thought about not putting on a border? Just use a solid color for the binding.
Any pieced border will take away from the pieced blocks of the quilt.
If you need a border to get the quilt larger, I would use a solid border so you do not take away from the pieced blocks.
I don't think a piano key border is the answer, it will be too busy for this pattern.
