I am talking about quilting my quilt using a hoop to help with the free motion quilting but thank you for the tip on the software splitting files. I just bought the Brother PE770. I do hope I will be able to learn to use it on my own without too much difficulty and find the right threads to buy and so forth but right now concerned with my quilt top.

I have a Brother SE400, which is similar to the 770. I do FMQ but never considered using a hoop. I think the hoop would be confining and time consuming. When I FMQ I section off in my mind what area I'm going to do...usually a block at a time. The 4x4 hoop would not cover the area. Then you would have to stop, take off the hoop, restart. Just forget the hoop with FMQ.
