Another way is to look on the side of the fabric at the color chart and get fabric that compliments a focal piece. Also, you could use a color wheel, but I'd rather take my chances and run with it. As for scrappy, I'm terrible at the 'real" scrappy, mine take forever since I need to plan.
New Years Resolution, but up fabric, put in brown sack and make a quilt--it'll be what it'll be. :) :)
