I started by quilting through the squares in the alternating blocks, with a walking foot, making large X's across the quilt. That stabilized the whole thing, and made the rest so much easier to quilt. It was the first really big quilt (105" square) that I free motion quilted on my DSM. Good luck with yours!
Oh how great to see your response. I hope you don't mind me just about copying your quilt :0). Your instructions were fabulous! every thing worked out great, so much so that I also completed the blocks for your other quiltalong.
I have always wanted to make a sampler quilt, but never liked the busyness of it. then I saw your design with the setting blocks, and I just had to go for it!!
thank you so much for making the pattern available. I just now looked at the link you provided . I have not noticed that you posted pics of your quilting close up. it looks great, and the fact that you did this with a DSM gives me hope
