You're completely right, Joe. Technically, there are still some models today that are treadle-able (http://www.amazon.com/Janome-Treadle.../dp/B001HK9KT4 - No affiliation, just found them by doing a web search.), but the German versions of the 401 and 411 are both treadle-able and their manuals cover it, so I'm guessing that there was a treadle table option. My 411Gs both came with "regular" tables, I'd love to see one actually in an original treadle table for the era. The manual for my 411G is copyrighted 1963.
