Thread nest on the bottom is usually caused by improper tension or thread path on top.

In my featherweight, I use Singer needles, Organ, and mostly Schmetz. I think Schmetz is the best.

Always start with a thread starter, a small piece of fabric where you take the first four stitches, and then leave that connected, take a stitch on air, and start your seam.
