One thing that I found really helps is the white gene washer, another is feed dogs up...some times I cover them and sometimes I dont. I find gutterman works best.

I changed the needle to be sure it was fine, tried size 80, 90... always the same mess! I used a Elna 1 for the parts I could do with, any problem of tht kind. But in the middle, I needed the space given by the Janome arm.
