As you can see, I'm too nervous to trim it properly (again.) I think I'll go ahead and cut a full size template out of template plastic to use over the top to trim. I've been trying to draw the lines on the kite by seeing through the fabric to the pattern (underneath) but it's not easy.

I decided to do this a little differently than auntreen or thatquilt. I paperpieced both stars. If I were to do it again I'd reduce the center white start just a little to make sure the tip of the stars aren't cut off. I knew I'd never get crisp points if I tried to applique or reverse applieque those stars.
