scrim is one of the two ways they bond the batt, its a layer of poly they needlepunch in. it hardly shrinks and is VERY durable.

the hobbs suggested is resin bonded, it was my next choice to try but I didnt know how durable??? these baby blankets need to be tough suckers :)

the two others I tried where "soft and crafty" and "polyfil cotton classic"
didnt like either because the one was stiff and the other had to much give.

I dont know if the trick is in the title? like "heirloom" is not bonded and "classic" is???
