katy bob, i had a miniture heavy duty pair of sissors, that i used to pull the needle thru at times. i think my mom had used them yrs ago. i seem to remember on some of her thicker quilts. and they were hers in her sewing stuff. it would help, if your jane was out somewhere close so you could get to her a odd times.
