Are there any guilds in your area? You might consider joining, I bet you'll find people in your age group, especially if it's a branch of the
Modern Quilt Guild. Also check with your local quilt shops, ask if the employees and owners know of any informal groups that meet. One LQS owner in my area opens the classroom for groups to meet, chat, and sew for free.

And, if you don't find a group or guild, why not start your own?
Post flyers in the quilt shops and fabric stores, hold a couple of meetings at the local library or community center.
