BellaBoo, you raise an interesting idea. What is 70 weight thread, and is the 80 needle a universal? I believe Aurifil is 50 wt and 2 ply. I love Aurifil thread...I've never thought of using a different bobbin thread to correct tension problems.
I am definitely going to take the needle out and look at it with a magnifying glass to try to determine what kind and size it is. And thanks for the 30 day return policy, didn't know that either.

Connecting Thread Pro on the cone is 70wt. Superior Bottom Line is 60wt Aurifil bobbin thread comes in 60wt and 80 wt. Most name brands of thread has a 60wt or higher thin thread. I use Titanium coated Organ topstitch needles size 80/12 for piecing as I use thin thread in top and bottom. If I use 50wt 3 ply in top and bobbin I use a size 90/14. Connecting Thread Essential is 50 wt 3 ply. I have large cones of 100 wt and 80 wt bought from a commercial embroiderer bankrupt sale some years ago. The Aurifil 80 wt cone is 18,500 yards. I'll never run out of bobbin thread so I don't shop for it to know all the new ones available.
