I had to use wood filler in several areas and sand. The legs and rails are wood, but the rest was veneer that was in really poor condition. I had to glue it in many areas. And the veneer was very thin, thinner than on Singer tables. If I had to do it over, I'd do a primer first. I had thought the paint was thick enough to give good coverage, but I had to apply probably 5 coats of it!
