If he is nine by the time he is 11 cars, trucks etc will no longer be age appropriate I say go with plaids or boyish colors, blues, greens bowns somethnig he could use for years to come not for a limited amount of time. The only fabric I could think of for a nine year old into adulthood would be a woodland or lodge scene. Most guys young and old never tirer of deer and cabins etc.
