Yes, we did build the shelving units. They are 83" tall, by 41.5" wide. Each shelf is 40" wide by 11.25" deep (we bought 1 X 12 X 10' boards and cut them into 3 equal lengths for the shelves). There are three units side by side with 9 shelves each. The top 3 are spaced 5.5" apart, just enough space for my fat quarters to go in their shoe boxes and pull in and out of the shelves easily. Then the rest of the shelves were just spaced evenly (more or less, don't get out your slide rule) down the length. It was a bit of work, but I love my shelves!
