I just learned this technique at the Shawnee State Park Retreat in Ohio! We cut five 1 3/4" strips of dark to light and attached them to a dark (instructor used black making an Amish block.) After cutting the 45 degree angles, we ended up with 9" Roman stripe blocks for our quilt. The opposing color blocks (which were not used in the quilt) could be used for a wall hanging, table runner or lap quilt. Great technique!
