Good advice. I've had my PE770 for about a year and just love it. I don't have any software, but I'm not planning to digitize. Learn to use the machine first and find out what you can do without it. BTW, if you are doing any lettering, the "underline" in the alphabets is for spacing. The book doesn't tell you that! Read the manual and then just jump in and embroider something. I store my bought patterns on jump drives. The only thing I don't like about this machine is the "black blob" on the screen that represents your pattern. If I ever up-grade, it will be to something that has a colored picture on the screen. Embroidery Library had gorgeous, well-digitized, reasonably priced patterns.
