Default Setting quilt together with on point and straight on blocks

I have 18 Mariner's Compass blocks 12" and one large 24" Marine's Compass block. I want to put the 24" block in the center of the King sized quilt and then rows of the 12" blocks BUT I want to place one block straight up, the next on point, and so on so that row #1 has straight, point, straight, point, until there are 5 blocks across the top row.
Row 2: I want straight, the skip until an on point block is placed under block 3 of row 1 then skip until the last block is straight in line with the 5th block above.

Row 3: Just 2 blocks-one on each edge straight up.

Row 4 same as row 2.
Row 5: same as row 1.

I have NO CLUE what-so-ever as to how to make this quilt top now that the blocks are made. I also have NO CLUE as to how to figure how much background fabric to purchase.
Can anyone offer me help as to how to do this or where to go for help. I did not purchase the pattern or fabrics locally so don't feel I can go to the local quilt shop.

Obviously I can't send a picture when all I have is a pile of blocks, sorry. Thanks for any help. Sue
