Default Celebrate! Quilt Camp in Flagstaff, June 12 -15, 2013

Hi all,

I'd like to let you all know that there will be a quilt camp in Flagstaff again this June. It is called "Celebrate! Quilt Camp & Show", and you can check out all the details at www.celebratequilts.com . I attended last year and had a great time!

The list of national and regional instructors & speakers is pretty impressive, so be sure to check out the web site if you'd like to spend some time in "the cool pines of Flagstaff"! Annie Smith from Simple Arts! is the keynote speaker on Thursday evening is sponsored by our local guild, and is free to everyone.

I am not affiliated with Celebrate! Quilt Camp, but do plan on attending. (I am acquainted with the organizer from our local guild.) My daughter is also coming up from Tucson for the week.

In conjunction with the Quilt Camp, the Coconino Center for the Arts will offer a concert by Kathy Miller, "The Singing Quilter",

and will be hosting the:
[h=1]Four Corners Quilt Exhibition
[/h]
The Four Corners unifies the cultures and territories of the southwestern United States, similar to the four corners of a quilt joining together layers of fabric. Quilts were considered a treasured commodity on the frontier, and throughout history different cultures have adopted the quilt as a form of utility and expression. Four Corners Quilt Exhibition is a study of how quilters choose to manipulate historic as well as modern techniques for a contemporary audience.

This exhibit is open to artists from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. All forms of quilted work are eligible. Works should have layered and stitched elements of fabric or fabric-like material and can range in scale from handheld to monumental.

The weather in Flagstaff in June is pretty near perfect--nice and cool compared to most of the desert southwest.

I'd love to meet some of you wonderful QB members and would be happy to answer any general questions about Flagstaff that I can, so feel free to PM me.
