I just spent days and tears on a summer-weight topper for my queen bed, and managed to cut the squares wrong on a couple of the batiks (and had to patch some to use). I think what I did was reverse the square ruler I was using and cut on the "reciprocal". Does that make sense? I think it is a 12" square, and I meant to measure always from where the two 1" marks met. If I did it backwards I cut one inch off one direction. Not pretty.
