Default WoooHooo! I won ribbons at the local quilt show!

I entered this quilt in the Miller-Bowie Quilt Show here in Texarkana and was SHOCKED when I finally found it at the show with so many ribbons. I got 1st place blue ribbon, an Excellence in Quilting ribbon, a "Just Because We Like It Ribbon" and a community appreciation award. I almost started crying when I saw it.

The pattern is Dizzy Geese from the Big Book of Scrap Quilts but I used red, off white (muslin) and blue, so I named it Patriotic Geese. I have wanted to make a quilt with that pattern since I bought the book over a year ago but was intimidated by the number of geese. However, I made Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street mystery quilt which had quite a few geese in it, so, while I was on a roll with making geese, I decided to make this quilt for the show. I started it in mid-January and worked on it almost every evening and every weekend and had it ready for the show about 3 weeks ago.

I have had my longarm for a year and a half and just learned to do feathers about 6 or 7 months ago. I did a lot of practice, practice, practice before I got to this quilt and I LOVE quilting feathers!

This was already my favorite of all the quilts I have made, but having it win ribbons just makes it that much more special.
