I used Timeless Treasures peacock, the black and gold one. The quilt is spectacular, and I couldn't be happier with it. I did not pay full price for anything (I'm a good shopper) except for the longarming, of course. The price of just materials was way north of $700.
I am horrified. My friend said she was surprised, but no problem. I feel so uncomfortable about this. I'll probably never make a quilt by request again. If I had to charge for labor, the quilt would be about $2000. What do you all think? Obviously my friend is awesome and I am lucky, but still..............
Goodness Nancy, not only did you make the quilt you also made several decorative pillows and two standard pillowcases. I can't wait to see the picture of it.

Don't feel bad, she wanted a "work of art" and you gave that to her. I think you did great.

The only comment I'd add is that next time be sure cost is discussed and it won't be a surprise. Your time is precious. Cost is often a surprise to those who don't quilt just because they don't realize all that goes into a quilting and they definitely do not realize the expense of fabric. Next time be sure they do and there will be no misunderstandings!
