We moved to Puerto Rico for three years for my dad's job when I was a small child. We rented a house from a man that was coming to the US for a Master's program and the house rental included taking care of his Persian cat named Tobita.

Three things about this lovely cat: (1) she only spoke Spanish, (2) she loved my mother, and (3) my mother only spoke English [the rest of us spoke Spanish to her - maybe she thought my mother was exotic!]. She used to bring my mother tokens of her affection - dead iguanas (large lizards), that she left on the doorstep. She wouldn't let the rest of us take her "gifts" - she wanted my mother to have them! She was a very nice cat and we missed her when we left, but her owner was thrilled to be reunited with her.
