I just purchased the Pheasant Feathers quilt kit. Kansas Troubles is introducing "Layered Patchwork," it's kind of like raw-edge applique, best I can tell. You layer and top-stitch the pinked edges of triangles/precuts. The blocks look just like flying geese, square in a square, and 4-patches,
