I still pin all the time even though I've been quilting since 1992. I feel more comfortable pinning. I pin up and down but away from the seam line so I don't have to take out the pins as I don't sew over them. And I do, also, put a pin on both sides of a seam. I always get perfect matches in my seams that way. Always!
