Gosh, there's so much to see in this country that it's hard to choose. If you opt for California, San Francisco is one of those places that I would go back to in a heartbeat, if only for the food! Great shopping, and the wine country is so beautiful. A couple of years ago, we visited Portland, and a few years before that Seattle. Both are interesting with lots to do and see, particularly if you like the outdoors.
