A few years ago a quilt shop had an ugly contest with one yard of fabric. You could join, receive a brown bag containing one yard of UGLY fabric, and have to go home and use it. All returns would then be on display and the public would vote on them. It was fun and creative and the ugly fabric became pretty made up into a wall hanging, purse, doll quilt, or lap quilt. Fun.
