everyone does things their own way. Many years ago, things had to be done a certain way(for some). It's just the way some people are. I wouldn't let it bother you in any way. Look at some of the modern quilts, raw edge applique, and the neat tricks we have all learned on the way. Some people will look at them as bad because "that's not the way its supposed to be". Well, it doesn't stop us from doing it. We learn from each other and adapt our sewing to what fits us. It's supposed to be fun and rewarding for us to sew/quilt.
