I think I've seen a picture somewhere of an identical cabinet without the decal, but that wouldn't rule out the possibility that it was optional when new. The designs that were made for the Bicentennial were often based on earlier ones. Also, it's already been 37 years since the Bicentennial, so a decal in such good shape from that era deserves some respect. The nation celebrated the Sesquicentennial in the 1926, so that could have been an occasion for decorating the table in that way. It will be great if more information emerges. In any case, it seems to me that when anything goes together that effectively, it's an added value, especially if it suits your style.
