This was made with 2 ins squares. Cut the strip at 2.5 and subcut at 2.5. You do need a design wall really. You could do a make shift one with just a couple yard of flannel taped to any wall in your apartment. If you go to the beginning of the post, I posted where to get the pic of the orginal and instruction for size.
