This is a recipe I got from my SIL. We usually have this for Thanksgiving instead of turkey. We're just weird that way.

BUTTERFLIED BAYOU SHRIMP

1 lb medium shrimp in shells, uncooked (I usually buy the big bag of uncooked medium shrimp from Costco that has been shelled and deveined)

1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp bbq sauce
1 bay leaf, crumbled
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp dried rosemary leaves
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper

Butterfly shrimp by cutting lengthwise down back, not cutting all the way through. Do not remove shell. (Mine don't have shells) In large skillet, melt butter or margarine; add shrimp. Saute 3 to 4 minutes until shrimp begin to turn pink. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer over low heat 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and let stand about 5 minutes. Spoon shrimp and sauce into a bowl and serve with French or garlic bread and a salad.

Yummy! I double this recipe it is so good.
