Default 100% Virgin Wool Samples - Good for a Quilt?

This past weekend hubby and I went to an estate sale and found a small mountain of 100% Virgin Wool men's suiting and solid fabric samples. Also lots of worsteds and winter white. They are vintage and in perfect condition. Well at $5, you know I just couldn't leave them there! So ... question ... do you think these would make a good warm patchwork quilt? I told a QB friend about them but she thought the problem of laundering might not make them such a terrific choice. What do you think? I might also turn them into quilted patchwork shawls and scarves.

And I love the "not eccentric" label on this batch ...
