My mom took apart a grocery bag to use as a pattern for a grocery bag sized tote. It has a flat bottom. She used iron on-pellon on the inside. She didn't use anything special on the bottom, but lots of things would work. Cardboard has been suggested. To make it washable, the plastic canvas could be used.
