Oh MY! Love at first sight is an understatement. I would have been all over that one too. I've got a blonde cabinet that machine would be right at home in.
I "think" that's paint. For other non black machines I've tried Simple Green sprayed on the rag or paper towel not the machine, denatured alcohol, and Hoppe's #9. Sometimes it's come off, sometimes not. You might try an automotive polish to clean it too. I haven't yet, but I do use the Kit non abrasive car wax to make 'em shine though.
Love that push button reverse, that would make for east tacking on piecing.
