Dusty gave me a card he picked out himself yesterday. It's the first time he's had to take the initiative to go out on his own and think about "I should go get mother a card and gift for mother's day." He wrote in it "I know I sometimes make life hard, but you're there for me anyway no matter what. That means so much to me. Thank you. I love you." I read that and couldn't help but tear up after all we've been through with him with his grades and learning to be a responsible adult and such, not to mention all his dad caused that resulted in us being estranged for a year when he was a teenager and living with him. I just looked at him and told him "Yes, sometimes you do. I'll fight to the death for what is right for you though. Don't ever forget it." He said "I know" and I know he does. These are the moments that make all we go through with them worth it.
