I saw a suggestion in a new book I just bought "Stupendous Stitching" by Carol Ann Waugh. She suggests making a fabric bible, using inexpensive muslin or fabric you don't want, and you would stitch each decorative stitch regularly and then some by changing the width and length. If nothing else just do one of each how it regularly would stitch without changing the stitch width or length. She then puts grommets in them, puts metal rings and creates a book. She makes one for each of her machines.
