Another suggestion for the sticky tape: I read a long time ago that it's helpful if you get lily pollen on something. And it does the job, at least mostly! (File this away for Easter...)
By extension: it also works well if you have a dusty/dirty smudge on a piece of fabric. Using the tape doesn't rub the dirt into the fibers of the fabric. I've rescued quite a few fabrics this way!
