Gorgeous Quilt! Applique is a very nice touch, on a lovely background.
I too tried the "Jelly Roll Quilt", and managed to make it all the way through. Nice result, I thought, until I washed it in warm water and put it through the dryer on delicate. One of the colors bled everywhere, and it shrank in odd ways so I had a quilt top that would not lie flat. Very frustrating. I made it into a blanket and gave it to the dogs. Since then, I wash ALL precuts, which is a pain, but can be done. Gentle soak in soapy water, followed by gentle soak in clear water, until all soap is gone. Then I put them through a salad spinner to get out the extra water, which works well. Then into a large lingerie bag and the dryer on "delicate" (lowest setting on my dryer). As soon as they slightly damp, I spray starch them and press (not iron). A lot of work, yes, but my next quilt with precuts came out beautifully! Did have to modify the pattern slightly, as most of the 2 1/2" strips were no longer 2 1/2" wide!
I'm getting very good a cutting 2 1/2" strips from pre-washed fabric, and like that better than jelly rolls, although you just can't beat the variety of coordinated colors and prints in a jelly roll. So sometimes I wash as well! LOL!
