Just remember that Sharpies ARE NOT PERMANENT and if you get the quilt wet they will run. Even humidity will cause these markers to run. Yes they say permanent but only to a degree. After all the excess ink bleeds into the surrounding quilt there will still be a shadow of ink on the thread.
Use a pigma pen with the larger tip. (.05) I think.
Or use an actual fabric pen made to use on fabric.
