[QUOTE=Phyldar;6082846]If you have a Big Lots nearby, check there. They often have name-brand irons and I have seen ones without the auto-shutoff there.[/QUOTE

I would give serious second thoughts to Big Lots. I was surprised to find a Rowenta iron for $20 there so I bought it. The price should have been a clue but was not familiar with Big Lots. That thing not just dripped, the water just poured out as I used it. Then somebody pointed out to me that their appliances are "refurbished" items. Rebuilt from items that previously didn't work. Says so on the box but it didn't occur to me to read the box. I tried to take it back but they refused since I didn't have the receipt. Now I don't even look at their appliances. I thought that was bad customer service over $20 but the mgr. didn't seem to care. So be careful if you buy an appl. there.
