I have seen some people fold on the bias and put acid free tissue paper in the folds. I just fold my quilts and if I want to prevent a crease, I slip a pool noodle in the fold. For long term storage I have a cardboard carpet tube inside a muslin sleeve that I roll my quilts up on.
I don't have the room to store a rolled quilt but what a brilliant idea to use a noodle. If my quilt isn't hung on a wall, I fold my quilts but I try to ever so often refold them from 1/2s to 1/3s. But if you have the room, I think rolling would be the best....
